Service Experts Donates Over 300 Pounds of Food to Minnie's Food Pantry

August 20, 2016

The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.

“Last year, I had the opportunity to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are an essential part of this community.”

Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to create nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also give resume assistance along with financial and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.

Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.

“All the team members were so excited that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
