What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Miami always talks about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it truly mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not everyone in the industry is required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being certified through NATE.

It’s important to Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our team is NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure technicians meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification tests validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these subjects.

Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only particular areas applicable to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the skill areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
