What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Miami always talks about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it truly mean?

NATE is the acronym for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization is owned, operated, developed, and supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all technicians in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified through NATE.

It’s important to Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our team is NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure technicians meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these criteria.

Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only particular areas applicable to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
